Now is the time to modernize assessment and reporting to align with the goals of 21st century learning. Putting the right practices in place is the critical next step in ensuring all students master essential intellectual and social skills needed to succeed in school and beyond.
Participants will explore a framework for creating more personalized and relevant experiences for learners and determine specific actions and decisions that need to be made at the district, school, and classroom levels. Participants are encouraged to attend as a team, as time will be available for collaborative action planning.

Tom Schimmer is an author and a speaker with expertise in assessment, grading, leadership, and behavioral support. An educator for more than 20 years, Tom is a former district-level leader, high school principal, school administrator, and teacher. As a district-level leader, he was a member of the senior management team responsible for overseeing the efforts to support and build the instructional capacities of teachers and administrators.
Tom is a sought-after speaker who presents internationally for schools and districts.
He earned a teaching degree from Boise State University and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of British Columbia.
Request for cancellation or refund must be received in writing (fax/email) at the CARC office a minimum of 7 FULL days prior to the event start, or registration fees will apply and refunds will not be issued. If you are unable to attend a session and unable to provide seven FULL days’ notice, please feel free to delegate an alternate to attend in your place. CARC also reserves the right to cancel an event within the 7 calendar days due to unforeseen circumstances such as facility closures, terrorist threats, natural disasters or extreme inclement weather (-35 C or colder).
