All teachers are teachers of language, regardless of the subject area taught. In this engaging and interactive session, participants will develop further understanding of Context-based, Word-specific and Morphology Instruction completed the Words Their Way way! Participants will complete a qualitative Spelling Assessment, but more importantly participate in many hands on vocabulary activities effective in the Middle Year's classroom.
Lana Laine Lane is an Independent Literacy Consultant. She resides on an acreage north of Canada's only Border City, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. She has been a teacher of Pre K- Grade 2, a Literacy Lead Teacher for K-6. and a Literacy Consultant K-12. She currently contracts with the Alberta Learning Network facilitating workshops throughout the province and works with schools to develop 'best class' literacy practices. She is a facilitator of the RRST (Reading Readiness Screening Tool) for the Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta (LDAA) and has presented numerous workshops across Alberta and Saskatchewan. For many years, Lana has researched the 5 pillars of reading; Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension. She has an unbelievable passion for kids and literacy and enjoys sharing this with others!
Request for cancellation or refund must be received in writing (fax/email) at the CARC office a minimum of 7 FULL days prior to the event start, or registration fees will apply and refunds will not be issued. If you are unable to attend a session and unable to provide seven FULL days’ notice, please feel free to delegate an alternate to attend in your place. CARC also reserves the right to cancel an event within the 7 calendar days due to unforeseen circumstances such as facility closures, terrorist threats, natural disasters or extreme inclement weather (-35 C or colder).
