Choice Boards are a way to increase engagement through choice, a way to differentiate through a variety of tasks, and an opportunity to allow for variety in learning tasks. Choice Boards are a tool for any subject and they can be used in a physical classroom as well as in the remote teaching environment. This learning opportunity will look at Choice Boards through the Math lens. Ideas will be shared on how to create Math Choice Boards and ways to utilize them with your students.
Cathy Coers is a Curriculum Implementation Support Consultant for the Central Alberta Regional Consortium. She has been a classroom teacher for over 20 years and has earned her Master's Degree in the Science of Education focusing on the Art and Science of Teaching. Her focus over the last 10+ years has been on supporting her teaching colleagues through the roles of Learning Coach, Math Curriculum Implementation Lead, and AISI Leader working in the areas of literacy, mathematics, assessment, and instructional practices. She is also a certified Independent Lynn Erickson and Lois Lanning Concept-Based Curriculum & Instruction Presenter and Trainer.
Request for cancellation or refund must be received in writing (fax/email) at the CARC office a minimum of 7 FULL days prior to the event start, or registration fees will apply and refunds will not be issued. If you are unable to attend a session and unable to provide seven FULL days’ notice, please feel free to delegate an alternate to attend in your place. CARC also reserves the right to cancel an event within the 7 calendar days due to unforeseen circumstances such as facility closures, terrorist threats, natural disasters or extreme inclement weather (-35 C or colder).
