Microsoft Teams Training for Teachers--Online Classes and Lectures with your Students

About the Session:

Microsoft Teams is a digital hub that brings conversations, content, assignments, and apps together in one place, letting teachers create vibrant learning environments. Build collaborative classrooms, connect in professional learning communities, and connect with colleagues—all from a single experience. In Teams, you can: 

  • Create collaborative classrooms that save teachers time and better engage students in modern learning 
  • Personalize learning by assigning tailored lessons and providing transparent feedback 
  • Connect educators in professional learning communities to improve teaching skills and student outcomes 
  • Streamline staff communication on school-wide initiatives with integrated communication tools 

In this virtual training session, learn how Microsoft Teams allows teachers, students, and staff to effortlessly connect and work together, create content, and share resources all from a single, easy-to-learn and simple to use platform. We will cover: 

  1. Create and set up a team for your classroom 
  2. Schedule lessons and video conference with your students
  3. Create assignments and grade student work
  4. Utilize features to make the most of Microsoft Teams 

This training is delivered through Microsoft Teams which will allow you to interact directly with the facilitator, ask questions and collaborate with other educators as you continue to improve your remote classroom capabilities.


About the Presenter(s):
Kimberly Hayton

Kimberly Hayton is the Education Expert at Microsoft West Edmonton Mall. She has a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Ed from the University of Alberta including a diploma in Teaching English as Second Language. She has experience as a grade 7 math and science teacher in rural Alberta. Kim is also Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) certified and has a passion for the use of technology in the classroom including various Microsoft Tools for education and other educational technologies such as Minecraft Education Edition and MakeCode Arcade.

Dexter Pizzey

Dexter Pizzey is a certified Microsoft Innovative Educator and Minecraft Education Edition trainer. He has been working with Microsoft for over 6 years and has been the community development specialist for West Edmonton Mall for 3.  In his roles at Microsoft he has trained enterprise customers, teachers, parents, students, nonprofits, and everything in between.  His passion for education stems from a desire to help ensure students are ready for any future they may come across.  

Cancellation Policy:

Request for cancellation or refund must be received in writing (fax/email) at the CARC office a minimum of 7 FULL days prior to the event start, or registration fees will apply and refunds will not be issued. If you are unable to attend a session and unable to provide seven FULL days’ notice, please feel free to delegate an alternate to attend in your place. CARC also reserves the right to cancel an event within the 7 calendar days due to unforeseen circumstances such as facility closures, terrorist threats, natural disasters or extreme inclement weather (-35 C or colder). Cancellation notices should be sent to npenney@carcpd.ab.ca.
