About this learning opportunity
The pandemic has forced us to pivot to new ways of doing things, including connecting with students online rather than in person. Marty shares the underlying principles behind his successful virtual visits. He shares tips on how to adapt elements of an in-person session to an online session that will still engage kids of all ages. He will also reveal some the technological tools he uses to enhance his online presentations and show how you can use them to your advantage.
This learning opportunity is being subsidized through funding from Alberta Education.
About the facilitator(s)
Marty Chan writes books for kids, plays for adults and tweets for fun. In 2016, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts named him one of the province’s influential artists of the last 25 years in recognition of the contributions he made to theatre, radio, television and kids fiction. In theatre, he’s best known for his hit play Mom, Dad, I’m Living with a White Girl. In radio, CBC listeners will remember his “Dim Sum Diaries” commentaries that ran in the 1990s. And kids line up for his Marty Chan Mystery books and his Keepers of the Vault trilogy after his author visits. He works and lives in Edmonton with his wife Michelle and their cat Buddy.
